Todays Racing Tips from Bobby James consist of a NAP, some each way value and a nice little each way lucky 15.

NAP: Silver Penny (6/1)

2:15 Southwell

“SILVER PENNY has become a little exposed but she did have a busy campaign taking in three races in as many weeks in January. Given a short break here could make a difference and trainer Jim Boyle does well with his runners at this track. One good placed effort over C/D , and on only her second try on this surface she could bring more today.”

Filudo (16/1) each way

3:15 Southwell

“A 50,000gns purchase this 4 year old gelding was once thought good enough to run in Listed company, as this is where he started his career just under 21 months ago, so connections won’t have expected to see him running in a lowly Class 7 (for the first time today) at this stage of his career. Over 7 runs he was tried unsuccessfully at trips from 5f to 1M 1.5f until his first run for this yard 9 days ago where he was tried over 1M 6f, in first-time cheek-pieces (retained), appearing to not quite get home weakening around 2 furlongs out and looking like this drop to 1M 4f may well be ideal. In that race he equalled his best RPR (49) showing that he still retains ability and finished 6 lengths behind perennial loser Canford Thompson but can reverse those placings meeting him on 6lb better terms today. Tony Hamilton takes over in the saddle for the first time and Filudo could well prove a bit of value at 16/1 on only his second start for the in form Roger Fell yard who have a 16% strike rate for the season with 6 winners from 37 runners..”

Princess Noora (12/1) each way

2:45 Southwell

“It is difficult to build a preference either for Dawn Dancer or Kripke as they both are in progress and with chances. The doubt opens the opportunity to expect a surprise win from Princess Noora which confidently will be close as her blood indicates (half sister to 6 winners).”

Tilly Devine (6/1)

4:55 Southwell

“TILLY DEVINE is a trip-versatile filly who was recently a clear second to a runner who has won easily since. That run was over half a mile further , but she is a C/D winner who looks capable of reverting to this distance with equal effect. Trainer does well at this venue , and Luke Morris will as ever ask his mount for maximum effort often with a positive response.”
